  1. Verify client’s MAP coverage and PCP assignment in CHASSIS SoftwareTM.
    1. If the client is a MAP client or provider, determine the reason for the call.
    2. If the client is not a MAP client, but indicates they are a patient of CommUnityCare, refer the caller to 512-978-9015.
  2. Use the Contacts Module to record calls from patients or providers regarding pharmacy under “Request for Information”,  and select “Pharmacy” as the referral.

MAP no longer assigns specific pharmacies. The pharmacy a client can use depends on what provider wrote the scripts and whether their assigned PCP is CommUnityCare, Lonestar Circle of Care, or People’s Community Clinic.

Commonly asked questions:

What is my assigned pharmacy? MAP client assigned to CommUnityCare:

  • Prescription is written by CommUnityCare Provider: Must use one of the Network Pharmacies.
  • Prescription is written by non-CommUnityCare Specialist or provider at Dell Seton Medical Center at UTMay use any local pharmacy including DSMC Pharmacy.

MAP client assigned to Lonestar Circle of Care or People’s Community Clinic:

  • Prescription is written by a MAP provider, a Specialist or provider at Dell Seton Medical Center at UT: May use any local pharmacy including DSMC Pharmacy.
  • Prescription is written by a CommUnityCare Provider: Must use one of the Network Pharmacies.
  • Lonestar Circle of Care Clients must use the  Walgreens pharmacies.
Can I change my pharmacy? Yes, however, if you are assigned to CommUnityCare, you can only change to another pharmacy within the Network.
How do I change my prescriptions to another pharmacy?
  • Call the new pharmacy; give them your prescription numbers and the name of the old pharmacy. The new pharmacy will take care of the transfer.
  • Take your prescription containers (i.e. vials, bottles, inhalers, etc.) to the new pharmacy you select and ask to have them moved.
I need to fill my medications but my card is expired. Screen client and offer options to apply for MAP-online, mail, etc.
I got my previous prescription filled at a non-Network Pharmacy and now they are saying they cannot fill it? Ask the client what provider wrote the scripts.

    • If the prescription was written by CommUnityCare provider, it can only be filled at a Network Pharmacy.
    • If the client does not know what provider wrote the script, transfer the caller to the Central Health Pharmacy Option- 512-978-8139

(If you get a voice mail, instruct the client to leave name, a valid phone number and reason for the call and they will be called back as soon as possible.)
