Medicaid/CHIP Similar Benefits

1. Individuals may still qualify for Medicaid if they have private insurance and meet all other Medicaid eligibility criteria. Individuals with Medicaid can visit a Medicaid doctor if they have other insurance and Medicaid. The doctor will file a claim with the private insurance carrier as the primary payer and with Medicaid as the secondary payer.
2. Individuals do not qualify for CHIP if they are potentially eligible for Children’s Medicaid OR have any other private health insurance.
