Ask if the patient has an emergency situation,

If yes it is an Emergency:

Instruct them to call 9-1-1

Verify patient’s coverage and PCP assignment in VeritySourceTM. If the client has current MAP coverage and one of the medical conditions below, refer to Medical Management.

  • Diabetic and is out of medication

  • High blood pressure and is out of medication
  • Has a complex medical situation and needs to speak with a Medical Management Coordinator

If no it is a Non-Emergency

  • Verify patient’s coverage and PCP assignment in CHASSIS Software™.
  • If the patient has current MAP coverage and:
    • Needs a non-emergency medical appointment, see Urgent and Convenient Care Clinics.
    • Has one of the below medical conditions, see instructions for Emergency above
      • Diabetic and is out of medication
      • Asthma with an active problem such as wheezing
      • High blood pressure and is out of medication
  • If none of the above medical situations are present, and the client indicates they have already followed the instructions found under Obtaining Medical and Dental Services, and are still unable to obtain a medical appointment, determine if the client is:
    • A MAP established patient (seen in the last 18 months) – follow the instructions under Complaints
    • A MAP unestablished patient (never been seen at his/her assigned PCP or not seen in the last 18 months) – see Change an Assigned PCP and/or follow the instructions under Complaints
  • If the patient does not have current MAP coverage, screen the client and proceed accordingly.
