Travis County Residency Procedure
- Proof Documents
- Documents for proof of Travis County Residency may be accepted if dated within 45 days of the application “file date”. This includes but not limited to:
- TV Cable*
- Gas*
- Electric*
- Telephone*
- Mail postmarked*
- Social Security Administration document*
- Texas Department of Health and Human Services*
- Rent receipt*
- Annual Property Tax Receipt
- Lease Agreement
- Current cannot be expired
- Signature page not needed
- Encounter documents/medical bills with a date of service or a statement date within 45 days of the “file date” from CommUnityCare, Lone Star Circle of Care, and People’s Community Clinic are acceptable proof of Travis County residency.
- Documents mailed by Central Health within 45 days of the “file date”
*Printed or Statement date within 45 days of the file date. Do not use billing cycle or statement period dates.
II. Eligible Residencies
- If an apartment complex is in two counties, the client will be considered a Travis County resident if the apartment complex “Taxing Jurisdiction” indicates taxes are paid to Travis County HealthCare District.
- College Students
Current procedures under review, continue using current procedures
III. In-eligible Residencies
- An inmate or resident of a state school or institution operated by any state or federal agency including nursing homes
- College students living in a Travis County dorm who did not live in Travis County prior to moving into the dorm
IV. Address for Individuals living in a place not meant for habitation” (living outdoors or in a car, staying at the ARCH or Salvation Army, or staying at a homeless shelter)
- Use PO Box 1000 Austin, TX 78767 as the members address
- If the individual does not have a mailing address use PO Box 1000 Austin, TX 78767 for both the address and mailing address.
V. Grandfather Clause- May be screen at 100% of the FPL if all the below are true
- Non US/Non LPR
- Resides in a jurisdiction other than Austin-Full Purpose (e.g., Other and Austin-Limited Purpose, etc.);
- Enrolled in MAP prior to November 11, 2005 and must have had one of the following coverage types: TBRACKFQ/TBRACKFQ or TOTHER/TOTHER; and
- Has had no lapse in coverage greater than 90 days.
